In brief

University-specific recorded engineering graphics courses cost ₹1,399 on our store and ₹1,799 at Ganitank, and NPTEL is free to watch. Syllabus match and access dates matter more than the ₹400 gap between them.

Two university-specific engineering graphics courses sit ₹400 apart, ₹1,399 on our store and ₹1,799 at Ganitank, and that gap is the least useful number on either page. What decides whether your money is well spent is whether the course follows your university's syllabus and whether access lasts until your exam. Sellers print a struck-through price and a discount badge, which tempts buyers to compare discounts. The numbers that matter more are the hours you get and the days you have to watch them. A course built for another syllabus is the costliest mistake, even when the price is low. This page gives the rupee range, a table of sellers' own prices, a worked total for a Pune University first-year student, and a five-check test to run before paying. We publish this page and our own course is one of those compared. All prices are as read on each seller's own course page on 31 October 2026.

What moves the price

Syllabus match

A course built for another syllabus is the costliest mistake

SPPU and Mumbai University set different content, so a course built for one can leave gaps or waste hours for the other.

Days of access

Our course is valid till 30 June 2027

Access has to outlast your exam, so work out the daily minutes you need from your purchase date with the formula in Check 3.

Hours and price per hour

About ₹21 an hour for our course

For our course, ₹1,399 ÷ about 66 hours is about ₹21 an hour. Hours measure how much teaching you get, not how good it is.

NPTEL certificate

₹1,000 on top of a free course

NPTEL is free to watch, but the certificate needs you to register and pay for exams and sit an in-person, proctored exam.

Key takeaways

  • As of 31 October 2026, university-specific recorded courses cost ₹1,399 (ours, for Pune University and Mumbai University) and ₹1,799 (Ganitank, Pune University). NPTEL is free to watch, and its certificate exam costs ₹1,000 per course.
  • Syllabus match matters more than the ₹400 price gap. The SPPU (Savitribai Phule Pune University) 2024-pattern syllabus lists five units and no projection of solids, while Mumbai University's syllabus lists projection of solids and sections of solids.
  • Access dates matter. Our course is valid till 30 June 2027, so work out your daily watching time from your purchase date with the formula in Check 3.
  • You may not need to pay. If you can solve a projection-of-lines problem alone on a blank sheet and check it, books will do. Buy a course for the units that stall you.

How much does an engineering graphics course cost in India?

As of 31 October 2026, a recorded engineering graphics course for one university costs ₹1,399 on our store and ₹1,799 on Ganitank. Magic Marks's general video tutorial is priced in dollars on its page, and NPTEL lets you watch free.

Magic Marks shows its price in dollars, so it is left out of the rupee range. Careers360, a private education portal, notes that NPTEL enrolment is free (updated 12 June 2026). NPTEL's own FAQ says the certificate needs you to "register+pay for exams" and sit an in-person, proctored exam.

Which engineering graphics course matches your university's syllabus?

The course that lists your university's units wins, whatever the price. SPPU and Mumbai University set different content, so a course built for one can leave gaps or waste hours for the other.

SPPU's official 2024-pattern syllabus (course code ESC-103-MEC) has five units:

  • fundamentals of engineering drawing with projection of point and line
  • projection of plane
  • engineering curves and development of lateral surfaces
  • orthographic projection
  • isometric projection

Solids appear only for development of lateral surfaces, and the syllabus says "No sectioned solids". Our engineering graphics guide goes through the units one by one.

Mumbai University's official first-year syllabus under NEP 2020 (the National Education Policy 2020), in force from 2024-25, names Engineering Graphics as ESC201 and lists six modules:

  • introduction to engineering drawing (types of lines, dimensioning, scales, cycloid, involute and helix)
  • projections of points, lines and planes
  • projections of solids
  • sections of solids and development of surfaces
  • orthographic projections, including sectional orthographic projections
  • isometric views

So the Magic Marks tutorial, which lists solids, conic sections and perspective projection among its 197 topics, includes content outside those five SPPU units. A Mumbai University student gets solids there, and an SPPU 2024-pattern student pays for hours outside the five units. NPTEL's course is IIT Delhi's own design, not the unit order of any one university. If you are unsure which projection method your paper expects, our first angle vs third angle guide covers the SPPU rule.

SPPU's syllabus requires two assignment problems to be drawn using any CAD (computer-aided design) software. Our Pune University course includes AutoCAD lectures for that part.

Our Mumbai University course page keeps its curriculum in a collapsed section. Open it and look for projection of solids and sections of solids before you buy. If you cannot find them, treat that as a fail on Check 2.

Why does the biggest discount not mean the best price?

Because the struck-through number is whatever the seller chooses to print. Ours is ₹1,399 against an MRP (maximum retail price) of ₹1,799, which is 22.2% off (₹400 ÷ ₹1,799). Ganitank's ₹1,799 is against ₹2,999, which is 40.0% off (₹1,200 ÷ ₹2,999). The bigger discount sits on the course that costs ₹400 more (₹1,799 − ₹1,399).

Compare three things instead: the price you pay, the hours, and the days of access.

Price per listed hour is a useful second look (our model: price ÷ listed hours). For our course, ₹1,399 ÷ about 66 hours is about ₹21 an hour. The 66 hours is our calculation, summed from the 102 lecture durations listed in the curriculum on 4 October 2026.

Hours measure how much teaching you get, not how good it is. A short course that covers your five units beats a long one that covers fifteen. At 8.27 hours for 197 topics, Magic Marks's tutorial works out to about 2.5 minutes a topic (496 minutes ÷ 197). We would use it as revision for someone who has drawn the subject before, not as first teaching.

What does the total look like for a Pune University first-year student?

For a Pune University student who needs only Graphics, the total on our store is ₹1,399. If the college also assigns Engineering Mechanics and Engineering Physics, the three-subject combo is ₹3,546 on our store.

The worked example below assumes a purchase on 31 October 2026.

Only buy the combo if your college gives you all three subjects. Our first-year classes roadmap helps you decide which you need, and the Engineering Mechanics course page says which college codes it fits. Check 3 below works out how many minutes a day our Graphics course needs.

How do you get a fair quote for an engineering graphics course?

Run five checks before you pay. Course prices are printed on the page, so a fair quote means a price you can defend on each of these.

Check 1: Do you need a paid course at all?

Pass: you can draw a projection-of-lines problem from given lengths and angles on a blank sheet, with no solved example open, and check your own answer. Books are enough. Fail: you stall on lines or planes, which is when a course pays off. Our engineering graphics guide shows how to check a line answer.

Check 2: Does the curriculum name every unit in your syllabus?

Pass if every unit in your syllabus is named in the course's curriculum. Fail if any is missing, or if more than a quarter of the listed hours cover topics outside your syllabus (our rule of thumb). The curriculum is listed on each of our course pages.

Check 3: Does access outlast your exam?

Daily minutes = hours × 2 × 60 ÷ days left. Pass if you can give that many minutes every day; fail if not.

Here is the working for our Pune University course (our calculation). The ×2 is there because our course page tells students to watch each lecture at least twice. The hours are about 66, summed from the 102 lecture durations listed in the curriculum on 4 October 2026. The days left, from 31 October 2026 to the 30 June 2027 valid-till date, are 242. So 66 × 2 × 60 ÷ 242 is about 33 minutes a day, and ₹1,399 ÷ 242 is about ₹6 a day. Run the sum again with your own purchase date.

Check 4: Does it teach the CAD part?

Pass: the curriculum lists CAD lectures and the software your college allows. SPPU accepts any CAD software for its two assignment problems. Fail: no CAD lectures listed.

Check 5: Can you write the all-in total in rupees?

Pass: course price, any exam fee and any bundle are on one line you can add up, and the refund terms are stated on, or linked from, the course page. Fail: any of these is missing. NPTEL's certificate is the case where this fails, because the exam fee comes on top of the free course.

Where do you buy the RG Lectures engineering graphics course?

Legitimate ways to pay less

  1. 1.Buy the three-subject Pune University combo (Graphics, Engineering Mechanics and Engineering Physics) at ₹3,546 on our store instead of ₹4,397 separately, saving ₹851, if your college gives you all three subjects.
  2. 2.Watch NPTEL's Engineering Graphics and Design free if you do not need the certificate.
  3. 3.Use books alone if you can solve a projection-of-lines problem on a blank sheet and check it, and buy a course only for the units that stall you.

Frequently asked

Yes, if you can already draw a projection-of-lines problem alone and check the answer. The paper marks the finished drawing, so practise on blank sheets, not solved examples. If lines or planes stall you, a course for those units is worth the money.
NPTEL's Engineering Graphics and Design from IIT Delhi is free to watch, but the certificate needs a paid, in-person, proctored exam. NPTEL's FAQ says you must score at least 40 on average in assignments and at least 40 in the final exam.
Yes. As of October 2026 both our Engineering Graphics courses are ₹1,399 against an MRP of ₹1,799, and both are valid till 30 June 2027. The Mumbai University course page lists Hindi as its language.
On our course pages, access is valid till 30 June 2027, as of October 2026. Work out your daily watching time from your own purchase date using the formula in Check 3: daily minutes = hours × 2 × 60 ÷ days left. For our Pune University course, about 66 hours bought on 31 October 2026 comes to about 33 minutes a day.
No. Engineering graphics is the university subject: projection, views and hand drawing, plus CAD assignments. AutoCAD is one software for those assignments. SPPU requires two assignment problems in any CAD software, and our Pune University Engineering Graphics course includes AutoCAD lectures for that part.
