TL;DR
You can prepare effectively for MHT-CET in 40 days if your Class 11 and 12 basics already let you solve standard questions. Use the first week to diagnose gaps, repair one blocking subject at a time, then shift to timed PYQs and mocks. Join a crash course only when it supplies structure you will actually use.
Yes, 40 days is enough for disciplined revision when you can already solve standard Class 11 and 12 questions. It is not enough to learn all of PCM from zero, so use the diagnostic below before choosing self-study or a crash course.
For the latest official PCM reference, MHT-CET 2026 had 150 questions in 180 minutes. Physics and Chemistry came first for 90 minutes, then Mathematics opened for the next 90 minutes.
Use This 40-Day Readiness Decision
Start with a 91-minute diagnostic on Day 1. Our rule of thumb sorts your preparation problem before you spend time or money trying to fix it.
Use recent MHT-CET questions. Attempt 25 Physics questions in 23 minutes, 25 Chemistry questions in 23 minutes, and 25 Maths questions in 45 minutes. Mark every miss as one of five causes: cannot start, forgot, calculation, misread, or ran out of time.
| Diagnostic result | Available study time | Best route | Next move |
|---|---|---|---|
| 18+ correct in each mini-test | 3-4 hours daily | Self-study | PYQs, timed sets, mock review |
| One subject below 18 | 4-6 hours daily | Targeted help | Repair one subject, practise others |
| 15+ each, but no routine | 5+ hours daily | Crash course or self-plan | Use lessons, tests and feedback |
| Two subjects below 12 | Under 5 hours daily | Priority triage | Limit chapters, seek focused help |
| Good accuracy, poor timing | 4-7 hours daily | Test-first self-study | Timed blocks, error log, retests |
A student studying 3 hours daily has 120 hours across 40 days. At 5 hours daily, the total becomes 200 hours. Use those hours to repair the problem you actually have.
Choose self-study when your errors are mostly recall, calculation, or speed. Choose targeted teaching when one subject repeatedly produces “cannot start” errors.
A crash course can help when you know the syllabus but cannot create or follow a revision sequence. A crash course cannot turn two unfinished subjects into secure topics through fast videos alone. If you want another check before committing, use our PCM mock-readiness assessment.
What Should You Finish in the First Seven Days?
Your first week should produce a chapter list and a working routine. It should not produce a pile of half-watched lectures.
-
Days 1 and 2: Diagnose and sort.
Run the 91-minute test. Create three lists for Physics, Chemistry, and Maths: secure, revision needed, and cannot start. Write one repair task beside every weak chapter. -
Days 3 and 4: Repair one blocking topic.
Choose one Physics or Chemistry topic marked “cannot start.” Learn only the part that prevents you from solving standard questions. Then solve a timed set from that topic. -
Days 5 and 6: Build the Maths habit.
Protect 45 minutes for Maths every day. Attempt 25 questions under time, then record where you lost time or skipped a usable question. -
Day 7: Retest before changing plans.
Repeat the three short tests on your repaired topics. Keep self-studying if the error type changed from “cannot start” to recall or timing. Get subject-specific help if it did not.
Use chapter-wise practice after you repair a topic. Our MHT-CET PYQ plan shows how to turn questions into a useful error record.
Which Physics, Chemistry and Maths Work Should Come First?
Start with the work your diagnostic exposed, not a viral chapter-weightage list. The official exam pattern makes both section timing and Maths practice important.
Physics: Start with chapters where you cannot choose an equation or explain the first step. Study the concept, make a one-page formula sheet from memory, then solve timed questions.
Chemistry: Separate memory failures from application failures. For reactions, definitions, and exceptions, close the notes and recall them aloud. For calculations and concepts, use MCQs until your first step becomes automatic.
Maths: Keep Maths daily. In the 2026 PCM format, each Mathematics question carried 2 marks, and Maths had its own 90-minute block.
Physics and Chemistry together: Practise a mixed 50-question block in 45 minutes once you have repaired several topics. The full exam gave 90 minutes for 100 Physics and Chemistry questions, then auto-submitted that section.
A one-shot video helps after you know a chapter. A full lesson helps when you cannot solve a basic example without pausing the solution.
How Should You Split 40 Days Between Revision, PYQs and Mocks?
Finish broad teaching by Day 21. The final 19 days should increasingly test recall, speed, and question selection.
| Days | Main work | Required output |
|---|---|---|
| 1-7 | Diagnose and repair | Error log and timed retests |
| 8-21 | Targeted revision | Repaired chapters and PYQs |
| 22-32 | Mixed timed practice | Section scores and retry list |
| 33-40 | Full mocks and repair | 4-8 reviewed mocks |
For each 3-hour study day, use 45 minutes for repair, 45 minutes for recall, 60 minutes for questions, and 30 minutes for error review. Students with 5 or more hours can add a timed section or a mock-review block. Keep lesson time below practice time after Day 7.
Our rule of thumb is four fully reviewed mocks for a 3-hour daily schedule. Students with 5 to 7 hours daily can complete six to eight. A full PCM mock should use 180 uninterrupted minutes and the two locked 90-minute sections from the latest official format.
After every mock, spend 45 minutes on an error log:
- Write the question number and subject.
- Mark it incorrect, unattempted, guessed, or too slow.
- Name one cause: concept, recall, calculation, misread, or timing.
- Schedule one repair task and one retry date.
Use our 180-minute mock review plan after each serious attempt. A mock score without a repair task is only a score.
When Is a Crash Course Worth Paying For?
A crash course earns its fee when it solves a specific problem that self-study has not solved. That problem is usually routine, revision order, question practice, or accountability.
Choose a crash course when you already know most chapters, have at least 5 hours daily, and need a fixed sequence of revision, tests, and feedback. Choose one-subject support when Physics, Chemistry, or Maths alone is blocking your progress.
Ask this before paying:
“For this exact batch, which subjects are included, what is the daily timetable, how many timed mocks are included, who answers academic doubts, and how long can I access the course?”
A crash course is a poor use of your final 40 days when you need first-time teaching across most of PCM. In that case, choose a smaller chapter target and repair the subject with the biggest number of “cannot start” errors.
At RG Lectures, we suit students whose diagnostic points to a Physics gap. Our MHTCET 2027 Long Term Batch is currently ₹1,632, includes Class 11 Physics basics and recordings, and runs until 31 May 2027. Our separate Chemistry 2027 Long Term Batch is ₹1,459, taught in Hindi by Team RG Lectures, and runs until 30 June 2027.
Digital courses at RG Lectures are non-refundable once the order is confirmed and the course becomes accessible. Read our refund policy before enrolling.
FAQs
Should I Attempt Every Question When There Is No Negative Marking?
Yes, attempt every question you can reach before time ends. The 2026 PCM rules had no negative marking, but a random guess should never take time away from a question you can solve.
Can I Study for HSC and MHT-CET Together in 40 Days?
Yes, if you separate the formats. Use HSC study to rebuild theory and written explanations, then reserve a daily timed MCQ block for MHT-CET. Board revision alone does not prepare you for the 90-minute MHT-CET section locks.
What Should I Do If My First Full Mock Goes Badly?
Treat the first mock as a map, not a verdict. Reattempt the questions you could not start after repairing those chapters, then compare the second attempt by error type. A lower score caused by timing needs timed practice, while a lower score caused by missing methods needs teaching.
Can I Use a Crash Course for Physics Only?
Yes, when Physics is your only genuine teaching gap and Chemistry and Maths already have stable routines. Keep the other subjects on PYQs and mocks instead of buying duplicate lessons. Our self-study versus Physics coaching guide can help you make that call.
